AROMAS CAFE, MUMBAI
This place was again on my to visit list. Mainly because I have passed by it so many times, that I had developed a curiosity as to how would it be from the inside. Situated in Hiranandani, it is in the prime location where you will Find Dominoes, Haagen Daaz, Chilis etc. This is the first in the entire lane. I had assumed the place is a coffee shop which is why probably it took me so much time to visit the place as my agenda has always been food and not just coffee and the likes. But then I heard the place serves good varieties in its breakfast menu and that got me a little more interested. I am a huge fan of English Breakfast and others falling in the same category. That does not mean I don't like our desi breakfast items, its probably just that these items are not readily available where as our desi breakfast can be found in every nook and corner and point to be mentioned, there is nothing ever that is going to be quite like it. So Yenna Rascalla Min' it!! :P :P
Well, in the end, when I did actually land up here, it was not the breakfast menu that I had had. It was for lunch. Yet, I went on and on about breakfast, apologies for that. I was just trying to stress upon the fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. :P
Even though it was a national holiday, I didn't actually much of a crowd and people buzzing in and out. But that's how it was. The place was brimming with people. Again because the whole place has a cafe look to it and in my experience cafes are places where things move very slow as the crowd that visits cafes are there to chill and let time stand. Atleast, me. :) However, I did like the buzz of the people around and the servers were very kind enough to not keep me waiting and quickly arranged for a place. I have to say that the servers here know a thing or two about chivalry. They were polite and actually create comfort, which in my experience is rare. It says a lot of the culture they have tried to develop within the restaurant.
As already mentioned the place lends a cafe look to it with big couches at one side even and tables of all sizes and shapes. So you feel relaxed as well. Though they are small in nos and mostly Its chairs, but the cushioned ones. I actually have a thing for Sofa seats and if so many high profiled looking people were not around, I swear I could even put my feet up and sit cross legged. Yes, I am that person. :P
We started off with ordering the starters which I had already decided upon on the way itself by the method which is basically studying the menu card the previous night itself for hours on end which was Grand Nachos with Chicken Bolognaise. It was exactly how I had hoped it to be. The quantity is good too and probably could be shared by atleast 3. The chicken filling is an added bonus and probably why I would be re-ordering this one the next time around as well. To go with it we had ordered two drinks, Iced dark forest mocha, which is a bliss for chocolate lovers and tequila meadow which is basically two juices mixed up and is refreshing on a sunny day. For the main course we ordered a Penne Napolatena and a creamy mushroom risotto. You know I was actually expecting the quantities to be on the smaller side, and was almost about to order 1 more starters at least to make up for it, but to my astonishment the quantities are well pretty filling. I actually had to get a take away because I just was not able to finish it off and actually didn't have room for dessert. Okay, Lie. I had a movie to catch. There is always room for dessert! but unfortunately there was no time.
So take a break from this sweltering October Heat and head to Aromas for a some cool refreshments or a full meal even. You will not feel disappointed! :)
