CAFE TERRA, MUMBAI

I know I go into short duration of hibernation once in a while, mostly during the beginning of the month. This is primarily due to the fact that this is the Salary Period. No, it does not mean, I am busy blowing my money off but rather calculating them. Well the rest of the world rejoices, I fear this phase and some times even tell myself I wouldn't mind if I were to get the salary in the next month. But of all it disappears the moment, the cell phone beeps and reads "Your A/c has been credited with Rs xxxx" . That magical moment. Even though, I know exactly how much I will be receiving in the month to the last decimal. Small Joys, indeed.

I have also been making a point to visit at least one place in the month from my "Wish List". This Time around, its Cafe Terra located in the lanes of Bandra. The only reason this place made it to my list was because of the roof-top restaurant it is and the lack of these in the city, or rather the lack of these that offers a decent ambiance along with not being that heavy on the pockets. Earning your own bread and butter does has a down side.

Oh, bdw, this was from a while ago, one of the Diwali nights. I should also tell you that you should not rely on the Google Maps, because Google Maps cheated me and put me off direction and on a longer route than if I had not followed Google Map's directions and just taken the normal route to Bandra, that I usually do. But then in other times, Google Maps does prove to be a blessing. It just shows that nothing can be 100% perfect.

Okay, getting down to business. This place should only be visited on a cool breezy evening. Otherwise, you really wouldn't feel the feel. Don't ask me what that means. :P You just gotta feel it! ^_^. Imagine a terrace restaurant, with hues of white and blue (The seating arrangement), Potted Plants in the corner which hold small cages ( no birds) decorated with lights, cool breeze running over you and fireworks in the distance (fireworks only due to Diwali). Do you feel it? If no, then God Help you! :P

The menu here is not that extensive and nothing extraordinaire. It is a very simple and basic menu. But the purpose this place serves is not entirely for the food, but mainly for a laid back evening with friends or especially that special someone, so if that is the intention you come down here with, you shall not feel disappointed. Others, stay away! especially, since the servers here are also not all that friendly and from the looks of it, not all that interested in being there even. Since, I was in a good mood and especially in a mood to ignore such things, I did not mind. On any other day, I would have taken offence.

We started off with ordering 2 mock-tails, a soup and a starter. We wanted to keep the food light this time around as we were not too hungry on the day for some peculiar reason. The soup was an instant hit, as it was creamy and not like most soups I generally have. Probably because mostly I order Chinese soups, and this being Italian had a creamy and cheesy flavor to it. Served with two pieces of garlic french toast, this sets the mood for more yumminess to come your way. The chicken Quesadillas, we ordered next were not the best I have had but it definitely is flavorful and has a more Indian taste to it than mexican. If it was on purpose or not, I do not know, but I definitely enjoyed it. For the main course we ordered just 1 sizzler and not beyond that as we were of the thought that if we still had room we could always order more. Wise decision, as it was most certainly enough. The sizzlers are basic, but again doesn't lack flavor. I guess, some times its just a good companion, in a good set-up with some simple food that makes for a great time.

Hop in here, if you are looking to spend some quality time with your special some one or for the girls out there, you will love bringing even your girl friends here. A glass of wine in one hand with the wind blowing through your hair, and Aayi shappat!, you will forget all your woes. If only for the night. :)
