THE FOOD BAR, MUMBAI

I happen to love those places that serve deliciousness and don't burn that a big hole in the wallet. Such places are a gem for food lover around the world and very hard to come across in a city like Mumbai. Yes, we have the best street food around the world, but when it comes to satiating cravings for a good burger/roll etc, we have to mentally prepare ourselves for the amount it is going to cost. I at least have to. I love food but I love it even more when I don't have to pay for it. But unfortunately, that is very rare. Hence, my delight on coming across places where I don't have to mentally calculate the damages in my head and where I will have to compensate for it.

Well this place, is not like super cheap, but it definitely does not burn a hole in your wallet . You can happily eat to your heart's content. How did I come across this place? Well...Ahem...Somebody from my Friend list checked into this place, and the name caught my attention and as you can guess, I did a google search. No, I am not a stalker. But Hey! The name caught my attention and its fooood!:P So on checking out the place, I was mind-a-blown by the rates and the pictures looked good and so I found my next destination.

What next? It took me less than a week even to come down to this place. When I first stepped in the area, I was like OH! Gosh! I have been here so many times, to the MC Donald's located in close proximity. Yet, I missed this little place, probably because it is little. When we dropped in, it was early afternoon on a holiday and the place had no one but us. The place is a coffee shop as such and the plus point it has to most other coffee places is that, it has much more to offer on the menu. Its small but cozy and if you were to probably drop in during the evening, you would not get a place too easily. The place is not too fancily done up. Its simple but appealing and there in lies the charm of this place.

I always end up saying good things of a place and not really mention the drawbacks. I do a little bit but mostly its the good stuff unless and until some places really REALLY puts me off. Part of the reason would be I am an ace at selecting places. There, I said it and one of the most important factor is ordering the right thing which will suit your taste buds. Even the most classiest of restaurants has a dish or two that does not meet the mark. Every restaurant has signature dishes. You just need to know what is the best to order. And you will be a satisfied person. A lot of times the server is the best person to ask this to. The other reason also is that you need to know where you are going and your expectation should be in that order. You wouldn't go to a Dhaba and expect Champagne to be served would you? So A lots of times its the feel that most foodies looks out for. I could stay home and eat, order in, sit in my pyjamas, and many a times I do that, but If I am stepping out, its not just for the food, its the entire Package as a whole.

Okay, now actually talking about the food. The place like I mentioned is a typical cafe but with more varieties on the menu. Since, we did not want to have a whole some meal, we went for lighter stuff, not that light even. The calorie intake must be high :P. We ordered a plate of non veg sliders, Chilli Cheese Balls, 1 Hot Chocolate and a Green Apple Mint Cooler. To finish it all of a small dessert - The classic Caramel Custard. I can not have enough of this. EVER. As a fat kid in school, this was one of the things in my staple everyday diet. :PThe sliders had 4 mini burgers, all 4 done up with slight variations from one another. Chicken fillet pieces, mayo, mustard, chilli sauce etc made up the insides. Simple but hits the right spot. The chili cheese balls, no prizes for guessing, were my favorite, because the insides had so much cheese and having it fresh and hot, can cure anybody of all their woes. The apple flavored cooler, has that slightly tangy taste to it and is another must try if you are looking for a refreshing drink. The Hot Chocolate is for you, if you want your insides to feel warm and fuzzy. So even though, we didn't order anything complicated, the flavors were still good enough and definitely a good hang out spot for college kids and adults alike. Oh Yeah, the Caramel Custard awakened the fat kid in me from my younger days, and she couldn't have felt happier.

So Give this place a visit, and you wouldn't feel sorry after seeing the bill either. There is a need of more such restaurants/ cafes around town and I am hunting for them like a lion would for its pray. I am not a lion, but well, FOOOOOOD!!!! D-E-L-I-G-H-T-S... :) :D
