THE BAGEL SHOP, MUMBAI

I am going to start with a *sigh*. Not those long wishful ones. This is one of those how do I put forth what I am going to say next. I fall into that category of people who will always tell you good things. ( unless and until the person reading this is my sister, in that case it will be a rarity, probably never. :P). But the reason I started this page was that I wanted to be able to present fair views. (Main jo bhi kahungi sach kahungi, sach ke siva kuch nahi kahungi :P). So here we go.

What led me to this place was all the awesome reviews I had read myself and the craze I had of having bagels (owing to the fact that surprisingly I had never had them before). As you enter, you probably won't feel disappointed as it has this whole relaxed vibe, let your-self go and just enjoy your meal. Which we actually did. The food is good. I have got to say that. Its not at all bad, perfectly done even. The amount served is just about right too. Not too heavy on the stomach and at the same time gives you the satisfaction of a whole some meal. With everything going good, what was the problem? Give me the bagel and I could probably make them at home. It is that simple. Then why am I shelling out at least Rs 250 per bagel is the question that arises in my head and it refuses to go away. That is where the problem lies. Some might argue that the bagels are freshly made and it is the bagel where in the taste lies. In that case, probably not my favorite piece of bread and they have that option where you can buy bagels priced from "Rs 30" to take home. Or, maybe finding bagels in places like India is a tad bit difficult, which is why its considered such a luxury. Or you might say that almost everything can be made at home, yet we like eating out, but this is too easy to make. My 5 yr old nephew could probably place a salami, some chicken, some lettuce on a piece of bread (or bagel) and have it.

There are many other items on the menu, but then if the name is the bagel shop, its going to be known for exactly that and that should be its USP. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be visiting the place, its a great place to just chill out. Keep the order minimal, enjoy the ambiance and keep the conversations flowing. You wouldn't feel disappointed.

What we Had - Club Bagel - chicken
Garlic Bagel with with swiss cheese & chicken salami
Chicken Melt Bagel (This was something different, hence Yum!)
                      Caramel Frappe (Yum!)
                      Brownie Shake (Yum!)
Blueberry shake ( the flavor felt more of vanilla than blueberries)
